We can make the house ready

If the house is the barrier, that's the problem we solve.

A fall. A stroke. A surgery that changed what's possible. If a hospital or rehab facility has said someone can't go home until the house is safer, we can move quickly — and we'll tell you honestly, on the first call, whether we can meet your timeline.

Most homes need less than you think

Common discharge barriers, and what fixes them.

Getting in the door

A ramp or a solid handrail at the entry, a threshold removed, better lighting on the path from the driveway.

The bathroom

Grab bars anchored properly into the framing, a raised toilet, a shower seat, a handheld sprayer. This is usually the barrier.

Sleeping downstairs

Converting a den or dining room into a temporary or permanent main-floor bedroom, so stairs aren't part of the day.

Getting around

Removing trip hazards, widening a tight doorway, adding lighting on the path from bedroom to bathroom.

Calling for help

An emergency call button connected to 24/7 monitoring, so help comes fast and family knows.

If bigger work makes sense later, we'll tell you — but we start with what gets someone home.

There may be help paying for it

Families are often surprised by what's covered.

We'll walk you through this at no charge:

  • Veterans — VA HISA grants cover home modifications, including for conditions unrelated to service
  • Long-term care insurance — many policies reimburse modifications that let someone stay home
  • Medicaid in-home supports — Oregon programs may cover eligible modifications
  • Area Agency on Aging — the Council on Aging of Central Oregon may have local resources

We're not financial advisors, but we deal with this paperwork often and we can point you in the right direction.
